TeamStrap Works June 27, 2010 Skylar 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I was skeptical about this strap setup and read all the reviews covering its use. I bought one in time for a move and I must say that I am tickled that I purchased it to really give it a shake-down.
It was such a pleasure to use on furniture like bookcases, desks, china hutch and small piano . These were the biggest items I had to move and it worked well with them. What it had problems with were odd shaped or smaller sized items like 30 gallon flower pots or a 50 lb cube shaped safe. There is not enough surface area for the strap to hold it in a stable manner. It was moved with the strap but you just had to hold it still and it was very awkward and unstable. Would have used it on a washer/dryer but a friend used their hand truck instead. I did not have a chance to it on that appliance- maybe next time.
I thought about buying the version that uses the forearms but I prefer the use of the criss-cross strap arrangement over the shoulders which is somewhat like suspenders. I think that is designed to handle more weight but I cannot say that for sure since I bought this one instead.
Otherwise, I am so glad I had it for our move and would buy another one on a heartbeat.
Fantastic June 24, 2010 E. M. Moore (NYNY) I love this thing. My boyfriend & I were able to move a washer & dryer down some steps, thru two very narrow doors (just 1/2" wider than the W/D's) and thru a tight right turn in between without the usual copius cursing & scraping of knuckles involved in that kind of thing.
We also moved a fridge through two rooms & into place in the kitchen without scraping our newly finsihed floors. Instead of struggling to find a handhold on a heavy smooth-sided giant cube, you just lift with your legs & steady the thing with your hands - so much easier.
It does take some adjustment for steps - and moving a large object like a fridge up or down steps would probably be a little scary - but no more so than trying to do it without the teamstrap. I do wish it had additional slots towards the center of the main strap so you could pick up smaller objects. We tried to lift a window air conditioner and the straps only adjust close enough to lift it a couple inches off the floor but it was too far away to touch so we couldn't steady it with our hands. We probably could have knotted the main stap a couple of time to take up some length & make it work but didn't think of that at the time..
If you have heavy large things to haul around, I highly recommend it.
a necessity for moving furniture March 9, 2010 Laura Herbertson (PA) I'd definitely recommend this to anyone moving themselves. Two people lifted the china cabinet and didn't even need to use hands. It saves energy and can help clear a room in a fraction of the time. Our stairs have a 90degree turn, and the straps were meant for carrying in a straight line. We did have to drop the straps, carry the piece a few steps, and then re-strap. It was still a lot better than lifting the thing the whole way.
great tool at a good price March 8, 2010 turboramjet (Bloomfield Hills, MI, US) used this to move a large desk up to the 2nd floor
Would not have been able to move the desk without this product.
Desk didn't have any place to grab it
Teamstrap February 24, 2010 Susan H. Camus (New Orleans, LA United States) We were able to move an upright piano and a very large roll top desk. Without the straps, it would have been impossible.
