4 out of 5 stars Modern and sleek   July 26, 2010
Ruth David (CORPUS CHRISTI, TX, US)
I think this fan/light look great. We haven't installed it yet and it is a good thing we aren't in a hurry. This item is shipped in the manufacturer's box, no extra padding or packaging. Not even a paper wrapping-just shipping labels. I knew that was trouble! The first one arrived with it rattling...broken glass. We tried again and the next one did not rattle and appears to be in working order. Hopefully when we install it, it will work fine. I bought it for the color (bronze) and the syle. I have bought 2 just like it in brushed nickel in the past and they are very modern and stylish and work fine. They add a lot of character to the bathroom space. They are a little noisy, but I don't like these exhaust fans to be too quiet cause I forget to turn them off. Here's a tip, I am installing timers on my bathroom fans this time!

5 out of 5 stars Delighted with ventilator light   July 3, 2010
Laurie B. Craig (Provo, UT)
I recently built a new shower and needed a ventilator light to go in it. I read the reviews and chose this one. It was easy to install for someone with do-it-yourself kinds of skills and works very well. It moves lots of air, lights up my shower and is very quiet. Thanks, I love it.

4 out of 5 stars Hunter Bathroom Fan Model 90058   June 25, 2010
Polar Bear (Alaska, USA)
I have been postponing the fan replacement "joy" in our medium sized bathroom for as long as I could... I knew what to expect: cutting into drywall, disconnecting/removing the old fan, installing the new one and patching the ceiling, etc. I was looking for the fan that had a non-traditional look, matched our bronze lighting and had only two switchable functions: light and fan (to match our existing wiring). After extensive homework I zoomed into this model.

I am not going to repeat what others have said. Just a few things that "hit home" with me:

CEILING OPENING: The required drywall opening for the housing of this fan is only about 8in by 8.5in, much smaller than my old fan. I had to use the drywall saw to cut two 8.5in-wide pieces of drywall on both sides of existing fan - from the old fan to the joist. That made the removal of the old fan and installation of the new one much easier, since my fan had to be mounted between the joists witht he help of (included) brackets.

INSTRUCTIONS: The instructions that came with fan were somewhat "cryptic", to put it mildly. It contained only graphic diagrams with no customary (user friendly) descriptions. I guess, there was an attempt to save on paper: no need to print English, Spanish, etc. copies... Although it was OK for me, you might be much happier with instructions that are available on the manufacturer website ([...] search for model 90058). They do contain both diagrams and directions in both English and Spanish.

INSTALLATION TIPS: Since I was worried about matching my knock-down drywall texture after the fan replacement, I was careful with cutting out the piecs of existing drywall. I ended hanging them back and patching just along the cutting seam. Also, I found it easier to screw in a wide strip of of wood (or two thinner ones) across the drywall opening: it gave me the needed support of the fan housing flush with the drywall while drilling the screw holes [in the joists] for the mounting brackets.

AMAZON.COM TO THE RESCUE: After I've installed the housing and opened the rest of the package... I discovered that the glass fixture dome (light cover) was broken! Since it was packaged in a separate styrofoam enclosure it must have been the factory packaging issue (thus 4/5 of the stars). You might want to check all parts before you start, if you want to do it all in one weekend. To make it short, Amazon.com shipped me a replacement fan promptly and I was able to complete my project. Thank you, thank you, thank you, Amazon.com!

And finally, if I can do it - you can do it! :)

I bought two of these fans (one for each bathroom in my house) after researching and finding good reviews. It is a great looking fan, very quiet, and has ample light.

5 out of 5 stars Quiet, attractive   January 17, 2010

We needed a bathroom fan, but the ones we found at our building supply store were ugly and noisy (or ugly and quiet and expensive). We found this fan on Amazon, and from the description it appeared to meet our specifications - be both light and fan for our small bathroom, quiet enough and attractive. The fan is all of these. Good quality, nicer than the pictures show. It is large enough to cover the imprint left from the previous light fixture so we didn't have to repair or repaint, gives enough light and is a quiet fan. We installed (extra) a timer so we could leave it running for the recommended time after showering - the fan could easily be left running otherwise. We are very pleased.
