Product Description
FakeTV is a burglar deterrent that recreates the light of real HDTV television. FakeTV's super-bright LEDs fill a room with light in thousands of possible shades of color. FakeTV simulates scene changes, fades, swells, and and on-screen motion. From outside, it looks just like someone is home watching TV. Most burglars will not break into an occupied house. Why risk prison? So when a prowler sees that flickering glow that means someone is home watching TV, he knows to move on to an easier target. When you are away, FakeTV says "alive" far more than a lamp on a timer ever could. Buy a FakeTV and make your home an unappealing choice for a break-in.

5 out of 5 stars Very real from the outside   September 4, 2010
Tim (WA State)
Tried this out tonight and it's pretty neat-turned it on, went outside and it looks like my TV's on-flashes, flickering and all.
Using it along with other home security items: light timers, motion sensor lights etc will hopefully will make the baddies think twice.

5 out of 5 stars Clever idea... especially before everybody owns one   August 31, 2010
Gary (Durham, New Caledonia)
Clever idea, satisfactorily executed. I assume white LED's are brighter than the colored ones, so the impact they lend to the combined light explains why they're so many white and only a few colored ones. ... Still, creates a very satisfactory illusion.

I find the concept and achieved illusion very amusing... but effective and well invented.

I bet these will be less effective when they've sold millions and the 'bad-guys' are no longer fooled (like household timers)... but still seems very effective.

5 out of 5 stars small, but works good   August 22, 2010
lymanspond
Delivered on time as promised, when people said it was small, well I thought ok, but its smaller than what I thought..using it in a small bedroom and went outside , the light was very bright and may have to use a piece of paper as a shield to tone it down a bit,

5 out of 5 stars Don't leave home without it   August 20, 2010
Opal aloha (Hawaii)
It really does look like a TV flickering!

Takes some trial and error to figure out a perfect placement--put it where someone looking in a window can't easily see it, and direct it toward a wall or ceiling to light up the room. The second floor of a home is best.

The sensor is very sensitive to light, so if you choose to use the setting which has the device go on after dark, you've got to make sure you don't leave a lamp on where it can fool the sensor into thinking it's still light outside. Or you can set it to the "on" position and use an intermittent light timer and your house really looks occupied with the lights going on and off and the TV blasting away. And we leave NPR radio on too because it has classical music and sometimes conversations, so it really sounds like a TV.

Why don't we just put a TV on you say? Well, I guess we could, but we've got a wall mounted giant screen TV and this doesn't use as much electricity. Again, also looks convincing on the 2nd floor in the bedroom as if we are doing some late night viewing.

I'd highly recommend this item!

5 out of 5 stars Burgular preventor   August 3, 2010
Larry Bloomer (LOS ANGELES, CA, US)
Good product. It works perfectly. It is very sentive to even low light though, so a distant hall light will make it go off and then it will reset itself to start the time all over again when the light is out.

There seems like something loose inside it. A big clunking sound if you move it side to side. I stopped moving it for fear of braking it. I don't believe it was made to have something knocking around in it. Warranty?

Looks great from outside the house; just like a TV is on inside. Maybe the thieves or neighbors will come over while we're out and watch "TV"!
L.
